Full Service, Elegant Country Garden Wedding

Back in May last year, the team provided catering, coordination, styling, floristry and prop hire for S & D’s quintessentially English wedding. Held at S’s family home, the beautiful gardens made the perfect blank canvas setting for the private home celebration. The 4-pole Sperry tent, supplied by Boutique Marquees, nestled perfectly amongst the beautiful floral boarders, while the ceremony took place under a stretch tent in the grounds beyond.

The couple both lived in New York, so we worked with them remotely to help plan the catering, styling and florals for their celebration, along with coordination on the weeks leading up to the wedding and on the day. S & D first got in touch in 2019, but due to the pandemic they were forced to postpone. We helped them navigate the postponement and replan for their new date, including updating the florals and styling to suit the change in season. Fast forward to 2022 and a glorious summer day in late May, the couple finally got to have their moment and what a celebration it was!

S & D opted to hold the ceremony on one of the lawns behind the property, and the guests meandered through the gardens to find the stretch tent. Inside the stretch tent, our team of florists created a rambling deconstructed arch to frame the couple during the ceremony. We used a palette of pretty pastels and some brighter tones, and incorporated delicate garden florals such as roses, dahlia, peonies, hydrangea, and alliums. We added plants alongside the fresh florals and foliage to the base of the arch, creating an organic natural look. Meadow-style growing arrangements were dotted down the aisle, to echo the design of the arch and soften the stretch tent.

We created bouquets for S and her bridal party that were filled with an abundance of wildflowers and seasonal blooms. We finished these with trailing hand-dyed silk ribbon, in an off-white for the bridesmaids, and soft cornflower blue for S.

After a confetti exit, guests made their way to the terrace in front of the house, where they were greeted with cocktails and a pie and pints station. Alongside drinks and canapes, guests enjoyed a performance from magician, Ricky Locke, whilst live painter, Ben Hughes Art, captured the day.

Inside the marquee, florists Millie and Emily repurposed florals from the ceremony, including using the arch for a photo backdrop and the aisle meadows to style the entrance.

When styling the day, the brief was seasonal wildflowers that looked as if they had been picked from the meadow. We created an elegant, laid back yet luxurious look, which incorporated an abundance of seasonal florals and foliage and stylish touches throughout.

When planning the design of the interior of the marquee, we wanted it to blend into the gardens surrounding the Sperry tent and used florals and foliage throughout that echoed the grounds beyond. We used floral arrangment to help create zones in the structure. We styled two of the four poles, at the dining end of the marquee with foliage. Over the round bar, we created a huge foliage and floral hoop creating a real focal point within the marquee.

For the tables, we helped the couple design a tablescape that not only suited the overall style of the event, but also worked harmoniously alongside their menu, which had some sharing elements. The long banquet tables were lined with bottles and bud vases of florals. These were then accompanied by Ester and Erik candles in tones of pale blue and soft grey, and the couple also hired glass taper candle holders from Stories Event Hire. We used tableware from CMA Hire and added touches of navy and grey through the linen and glassware.

After entering the marquee, guests enjoyed another performance from Ricky Locke and speeches from the bride, groom, bride’s dad and best men. Courses broke up the speeches and guests enjoyed a starter of Parma ham, peach, mozzarella, wild rocket & herb salad; a feasting style main course of slow cooked aromatic shoulder of lamb, pomegranate, salsa verde or Moroccan spiced cauliflower steak, pomegranate, lemon & coriander yogurt; and sides of warm minted new potatoes, chilli roast squash, wild rocket, feta, toasted pumpkin seeds, and charred asparagus, tender stem broccoli, pickled onions, lemon & chive dressing. Finally, for dessert the couple opted for rhubarb Bakewell tart, rhubarb & ginger compote, clotted cream.

A few words from S:

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for last Friday. We had the best day we could have imagined, which was made possible by the exceptional service from Hall & Co.

Millie - the flowers were stunning. Just perfect! They were absolutely gorgeous and better than I could have ever imagined. You and the team are incredibly talented. We managed to send a lot of very happy guests home with the bouquets on Saturday, so thank you for that suggestion too.

We have had so many compliments on the food, decor and flowers, as well as the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. We will be recommending Hall & Co to anyone who will listen.
