Country Wildflower Wedding
A beautiful countryside village location and cosy community celebration combined to become to the perfect setting for P & S wedding in July this year. The couple opted for our full styling and on the day co-ordination service, for which we created all the floral elements, styled 3 separate venues and were on hand throughout the day ensuring the timeline and transitions ran smoothly. Building on everything that was important to the couple and their story, the day featured an abundance of bright meadowy florals, an intimate Spanish feast and a stunningly handsome appearance by the couples dog complete with his own matching floral harness.
P & S’s journey with us began a little over 3 months before the wedding when Millie and Charlotte met with the couple in their village to tour the locations and hear about their vision for the day. With a brief of a bold wildflower style, and a focus on sharing the day with the community that welcomed and embraced them as new neighbours throughout the pandemic, our team set to work designing a styling and floral proposal for the aesthetic side of the day alongside sourcing structures, tableware, and a few other supplies yet to be secured. With the day being divided into a large initial reception for 120 followed by an intimate evening dinner at the final location for 50, our team created a visual transition as the airy colour palette of the day to made way for the deeper Mediterranean tones of the evening.
We love as team when a couple have clear starting points for their ideas that we can build on and run with. P & S’s starting points of Greek blues and mezze style sharing vibes gave us a great launching point to build their ideal tablescape which left guests with the feeling of being transported away to distant Spanish terrace. Having chosen our full styling service our team were able to bring to the event the full skills of our range of services to create a cohesive and seamless design across the day.
Floristry
S & P both love colourful, organic arrangements and even have their own wildflower field. They wanted this love of meadowy blooms to be present on the day and so we took inspiration from this when creating their florals.
We incorporated lots of delicate wildflower stems such as Nigella, Scabiosa, and Sanguisorba to create movement and bounce, whilst adding little pops of colour and detail. Using florals such as Aster and Oxeye Daisies, along with a selection of grasses, we created a natural look synonymous with the hedgerows and wild flowers that the couple loved.
Finally, we incorporated other locally grown, more statement, seasonal blooms such as Dahlia, Peony and White Garden Roses to inject some colour and depth to the design. These were particularly effective in the larger arrangements, such as the bouquets, urns and hanging florals.
Venue Styling
With the village church likely to be standing room only, as the community came together to celebrate this wonderful couple, the church styling called for volume and colour. Millie and our floristry team created a pair of stunning urns to frame the couple as they made their vows, along side co-ordinating aisle posies tied with trailing green ribbons to match the grooms velvet jacket. Both elements were then transported to the final venue and added to the marquee and table styling.
As the ceremony finished, our couple lead the way through the quaint streets toward the Crown and Thistle for a champagne and canape reception with all their guests. For this venue we created an asymmetric deconstructed arch to frame the front doorway, add drama and a sense of occasion and show off all the beautiful summer blooms close up. As guests continued through the venue the florals followed with a large fireplace installation, a greenery wrapped bar, bud vases throughout and two hanging floral bombs in the garden marquees.
The third and final venue of the Crown House hotel garden set the scene for the more intimate evening dining for our couple and their close friends and family. Styled with a traditional sailcloth marquee from Events Under Canvas, lit with festoons and fairy lights the garden created a perfect private space for speeches, thank you’s, dining and of course dancing. One of the brides main requests from our initial styling consultation was to have hanging single stems in the marquee, which our team created to match the deconstructed arch which made its here to frame the dining tables.
An a pair of out door lounges from Stories event hire create a casual soft seating area the front of the marquee, while the cake made by a close friend of the bride and groom was presented on our antique hazel dresser finished with bespoke mirror signage.
As the daylight faded the guests were seated at one large U shaped table, a further element designed to bring a community and togetherness feeling to the day. With Greek blue table linen supplied by The Linen Hire, and other table ware including gold stonewashed cutlery and amber glasses provided by CMA hire, the tables paired perfectly wit the sharing and paella feast prepared by the Crown House Hotel.
Co-ordination
With a little more than 3 months to go till the event our team set to work liaising with suppliers already secured by the couple and sourcing those still required including the marquee, furniture, styling, tableware, and Av hires. Through the following months we created the days schedule, co-ordinated supplier access and set up and kept in regular contact with P & S to ensure the day was everything they envisaged.
On the day itself we attended with two event managers alongside our styling team to ensure every element of the day ran smoothly and that the couple and their guests had the most enjoyable day.
A word from the couple
‘When we decided that our wedding day was going to involve 3 venues with a very specific theme, we knew that we needed wedding planners! Hall & Co came highly recommended and as soon as we started talking to Charlotte and Millie we knew we’d made the right choice. Their ability to translate our sketchy ideas into a magical reality showed their skill, expertise, and creativity. It wasn’t just that though that made our day so special, it was their gentle and almost invisible management of the whole day, and the deep thought and energy that they put into ensuring everything was perfect. They were our ‘wedding fairies’ who quite simply made our day! Everyone is still talking about how beautiful it all was, and so are we, and it’s all thanks to them!’
Our team loved working with P & S to create their most personalised day. We hope you enjoy looking through the images taken by Sara Platt Photography. To find out more about our full styling, co-ordination or floristry services get in touch here.
