Bold Summer Floral Glasshouse Marquee Wedding
R & A celebrated their wedding as Island Hall this July with a vibrant boho style with Persian elements. The couple opted for our partial planning and styling services as due to the venue selected and number of styling elements the envisioned for the day they required some extra support to bring everything together for the big day. Featuring live Persian musicians, an abundance of hanging lanterns and evening shisha lounges the day was a wonderful representation of this super fun couple.
Our journey with R & A began with a site visit to the Island marquee site followed by a thorough planning meeting back at our offices. With a brief of a colourful but chic pallet to feature a styled outdoor ceremony and an abundance of lanterns and florals, our team began work creating the colour pallet, mood board and styling proposal for the day.
Over a period of around 6 months our team went back and forth with the couple, proposing styling choices and suppliers, getting a great understanding of their personal tastes and likes, and creating the feeling of the day the couple wished their guests to take away. As partial planning clients we supported R & A will supplier sourcing and booking, as well as timeline creation and ceremony and venue layouts and plans.
Outdoor Summer Blessing Styling
Having has a micro-wedding during the pandemic the previous summer our couple were keen to have a personal yet relaxed blessing with all the loved ones that were unable to join them previously. The outdoor vows took place in an intimate avenue of tree’s. The blessing took place amongst the tree-lined walkway on the island where we created a horseshoe of organic, meadow-style arrangements to frame the couple during the outdoor blessing. Filled with pretty seasonal florals and statement blooms, this striking backdrop suited the garden setting and incorporated colours from the Persian rugs that we added at the top of the aisle. We then dotted smaller growing arrangements down the aisle, next to the benches, creating a wonderfully bohemian look.
Led by their close friend, the couple made their personalised vows to each other with perfect riverside backdrop before returning up the aisle to a flurry of dried delphinium confetti and a soundtrack of ‘We are family’ to start the party!
Bold summer Wedding Florals
When designing R’s bouquet, we took inspiration from the bouquet from her micro-wedding during the pandemic, while also creating something to suit the Bohemian feel of the event. We created a floral-heavy design, which incorporated a variety of seasonal blooms in shades of nude, peach, coral, apricot and blush. Statement florals such as Dahlias, Garden Roses and Matthiola were complimented with delicate Sweetpeas and Scabiosa. We then added pops of colour through vivid yellow Heliopsis Helianthoides Asahi and completed the design with an ombre hand dyed silk ribbon, creating a gorgeous, sassy bouquet that perfectly complimented R’s elegant dress. Her bridesmaids all had floral posies in a similar style, but with each incorporating slightly different blooms to create a unique, modern look which suited their different dresses.
Glasshouse Marquee Reception Styling
Having chosen a glasshouse marquee for the reception, the overall look was always going be beyond the expected, and that’s exactly what our couple dreamt of. Collaborating with Park light we dotted the roof space with hanging coloured glass lanterns adding colour interest in the daytime, and warm candle light canopy throughout the evening.
Long banquet tables clothed in dusky blue, were lined with eclectic terracotta vessels that were filled with vibrant florals and seasonal foliage. Nestled amongst the florals were Ester and Erik taper candles in tones of beige, terracotta, and pale blue for additional pops of colour which co-ordinated perfectly with the elegant yet bold stationary.
With tableware being a major style component for the Bride our team designed and sourced a beautifully mixed textures place setting from both Wren Ark and CMA hire, featuring amber glass goblets, earthen ware plates and sleek brushed gold cutlery.
Above the tables, we designed and installed two large foliage clouds, made up of an abundance of lush green foliage. We included some hints of the bolder bright colours that were present in the rest of the flowers, with bursts of florals at both ends of each installation. Above the dance floor, we created an oversized foliage hoop. The clear roof of the clear-span marquee gave the feeling that the foliage installations were seamlessly suspended above and helped blur the lines between the structure and the beautiful surrounding gardens.
After the ceremony, we repurposed the meadow arrangements from the aisle to use around the bar alongside the client’s stationery and placed at the end of each long table. Reusing these florals here helped to soften the edges of the space and style these areas without the need for additional arrangements.
Colour pop Menu Design
We worked with Louise at Lou paper to design the on the day stationery which included personalised menus and welcome signage in a vibrant coral colour with cream and nude accents. The personalised menus gave guest a peak at the incredible feasting menu which was provided by caterers Mike & Ollie, and gave a colourful contrast to the place settings when guests entered the wedding breakfast space.
Stylish Outdoor Boho Wedding Lounges
One big evening request from our couple was to have outdoor shisha lounges for their guests to enjoy in the later summer evening. With the flavoured options and staffing provided by Cambridge Shisha, our Stories event Hire team created 3 cosy yet stylish outdoor lounges to work along side this. Mixing high and low seating, rugs, and plentiful giant floor cushions the seating areas were build around low level rustic tables and lit with a variety of lanterns and candles. With the clear roofed marquee being surrounded on sides by lush tree’s it was clear on early site visits with the couple that we should incorporate these in the wider styling and atmosphere of the day. To assist with this we brought on the team at Park light you expertly provided and installed coloured up lighting on the surrounding trees.
Our whole team loved working with this super fun couple from the early days of their event planning journey. We hope you enjoy reading about their day and looking through the images. To find out more about our planning and styling services please get in touch.
