Autumnal Vegetarian & Vegan Wedding at aswarby rectory

In mid-October last year E&S celebrated their wedding at Aswarby Rectory in Lincolnshire. A venue full that’s both stunningly understated and beautifully detailed at once, the old Rectory house was the perfect setting for an intimate day between the couple and their closest friends and family.

E&S began the day with the private legal ceremony with just 2 witnesses, the bride wearing an effortlessly stylish fancy pyjamas set, saving the dress reveal for the family-led ceremony shortly afterward. The couple wrote their own vows for the ceremony with the assistance of their celebrant friend, and handmade their wedding bands for additional personal touches. Friends and family gave readings from Fleabag by Pheobe Wallabrige, and The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman, before the couple's mothers completed a candle ritual.

Wedding Menu Design

When E&S first requested a bespoke fully vegetarian & vegan sharing menu our chefs knew just what dishes to recommend. Over the course of a few months leading up to their private menu tasting with us, an entirely personalised vegetarian and vegan menu was designed that brought together the sharing and close feeling of the day with their passion for great food.

Menu tastings are a fantastic opportunity for clients to get to know us and get a feel for how we work, as well as for our event managers to meet the couple face to face a spend a few hours solely focusing on the event and all the details that are going to make it memorable for the couple. Undoubtedly, the most important detail of this is the food! Working with couples before the tasting, our event managers and chefs help bring together a tasting menu of several dishes that match the taste and feel the couple is looking for, which is then refined to become the final wedding menu. With so many options to try for the wedding breakfast, not the mention the canapes beforehand, we are not joking when we suggest couples arrive hungry!

Elegant Country Tablescape

The wedding day itself was a perfect balance of beautifully touching moments and memory making, combined with the whimsical and fun elements that suited the couple’s fun style. With a private legal ceremony with just two witnesses first, the couple officially made their vows before welcoming all their loved ones for a personalised blessing led by a close friend.

For an effortlessly light autumn style, the tables were laid with soft pink linen runners, matching napkins, gold cutlery, and elegant modern glassware. Low compote bowls with abundant delicate blooms and fresh natural squash and gourds decorated the Tablescape.

The stationery was beautifully designed by the groom, with place names rested on top of handmade coaster favours, which the couple made with the help of their friends and family.

Sharing Wedding Menu

E&S’s final wedding menu consisted of a light plated starter, a sharing hearty main with an Italian flair, and beautifully presented desserts to finish. They shared canapes and champagne topped with edible flowers in the rectory gardens and enjoyed a pleasantly warm late October afternoon before taking their seats for speeches and toasts. Following a good deal of dancing, and a 2nd and beautifully vintage style outfit change by the bride, guests tucked into late-night snacks of vegetarian and vegan boa buns.

The cake was a stunning selection of vegan flavours that perfectly matched the floral pallet which was inspired by the florist's seasonal picks. And was also complimented by a selection of flavoured macarons with after dinner tea and coffee.

Classic Country Style

Additional style elements of soft seating lounge areas were provided by Stories Event Hire and added an elegant touch to the ceremony room later in the day, with subtle autumn tones of burnt orange, olive, and light pink. The venue orangery was styled with a children’s tipi area also complete this autumnal tone rugs and cushions.
